Missing LA traffic

Yesterday was a great day! We got up at about 5am and headed to Fresno so Brody could see some accounts there and along the way---he got a nice surprise order and we happily started our drive back home. When we got to LA we thought we would explore a little, get dinner & miss some traffic. We ended up stopping at Hollywood & Highland by the Kodak theatre. We parked and thought it would be fun to walk down a bit to the Chinese Theatre to see all the hand/foot prints of the stars---we still think it would be fun, and will have to come back again soon---because we ended up coming across a red carpet premiere for {"Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" }! =)

It was pretty funny, they walked across the street at the cross walk and then walked by us with traffic going by and then waited for the walk sign again and joined back up with the red carpet---I would have thought they wouldn't want traffic and such going by so close to them---but the people driving by LOVED it, especially the people on the 'Star Tour' buses! =)

After, we went for some dinner and tried to get the Hollywood sign in our photo. When we were standing there looking at it, you couldn't not see it, and when ever we took the photo, there was no way you could see it! Oh well! We have plans to some tourest type things in LA soon!! =)

It was a great day, and a really fun way to miss all the LA traffic! =)

Hunting for food...

Last night was my first Young Woman's activity since I was called to be the Camp Director. We were combined with the Young Men, doing a Food Drive Scavenger hunt for a place called 'Families Forward', who since the recession started is in great need of food to be able to continue to help families who are in need at this time.
The kids were so great and a lot of fun to be with! In our car we had 3 Young Woman's leaders, two Young Men and one of our Young Woman. They had to do funny little things at each house or on the way to the house---like sing a primary song out the windows, do leap frog to the door, do ring-around-the-rosy (and fall down) & one of our favorites as leaders was at one house they had to Rap there little spiel. The kids had so much fun with it, and we had lot's of laughs! I was in the back of the car with the kids and we had fun talking about all the important things, like American Idol and who is crushing on who. We loved it, the youth are so much fun and love to be involved! I just LOVE my calling! I am so happy that I not only get to be involved in camp but in every part of the youth program! It is a lot of fun! =)

Caution: You may get wet!

We have had "record breaking" heat the past couple of days, and while we do love the warmer weather, at points it was a bit too hot for me---creeping up in the high 90's low 100's.... I am not a big fan of extreme heat (well "extreme" for our area...and "extreme" may be a bit dramatic)! =) But it does make for some really fun ways to cool off!

Tonight Brody's class was cancelled (luckily he gets to school nice and early), he called me on his way back and asked if I wanted to meet him at Disneyland for dinner and to go on a ride we have never been on, to beat the heat! I was so excited, it was perfect timing because it is supposed to cool off this week (& you need a hot day like we have been having for this ride) and it was still in the mid 80's when we got on the ride....It was the best surprise!! =)

& boy did we get cooled off...& really wet!

Thank you Grizzly bear, we had such a blast beating the heat!!

Then we headed to 'Taste Pilots Grill' for some BBQ Chicken Sandwiches......Mmmm

and we were pretty much dry by the end of dinner! We had SO much fun, and we were only there just over an hour! =)

And now for the BIG NEWS!!!

We have heard rumors of {Rumbi} coming to Southern CA (something we have been wishing for, for years), but didn't know where they were planning on opening up. Tonight I "googled" it and among the first to open is in IRVINE in July (I think they said of this year)!!!!! I can't even tell you how excited I am, I will probably be there at the Grand Opening ready to eat my 'Aloha Mango Chicken Salad' (w/ teriyaki sauce! pretty much the only thing I have ever had there)!! =) Go {Here} for the full story!! Hopefully they still plan on opening as planned (crossing fingers)

Flowers + Golf = Fun!

This weekend was really fun! The weather has been very summery, so we headed outdoors to enjoy it!! =) Friday Brody got to go golfing with Dave (a friends from the ward), we also went to Disneyland that night (it was sort of a self set reward for finishing the taxes that came out so well), and ate at the ESPN Zone! Yesterday, we got up early and participated in the big annual garage sale in my parents neighborhood---we only had a couple things, and did pretty well for a garage sale! After we closed up shop we headed down south to the Carlsbad Flower Fields---we have been meaning to get down here for years, and finally did! And we couldn't have picked a better day to go, it was sunny (and a little too bright for photos at times, as you can tell by Brody's eyes) =), warm and clear blue skies! It was so beautiful!!

They had this cute wagon tour, where you can hear audio and learn ALL about the flowers.....we chose to do a self-paced tour---take a nice little walk & be able to talk to each other & do our own thing....we had a lot of fun!!

Oh, we happened to come on "Ladies Red Hat Day" or "Red Hat Ladies Day" (Something like that---and it was also "Blues Day", with live bands--very cool)! It was so fun to see the groups of ladies all around in their Red hats, and they all looked so delighted showing off their hats and having a blast. It was really cute! =) Here they are having a Red Hat Fashion show....

And I couldn't help but to try on one of these red hats for myself! =)

We topped off our time at the Flower Fields with some yummy strawberry short cake!

On our way down to the Fields we heard an ad on the radio for the Golf Expo, and since it was just down the freeway we couldn't pass it up!

It was such a fun weekend, we are just loving the summer weather and spending time outdoors! =)

Dream, fulfilled!

I have some really crazy dreams, and the other night was all about eating Asian food with Plum Sauce! I guess it was a pretty vivid/good dream, because I could not get Plum Sauce out of my head---So I stocked up on a bunch of different things from the Japanese Market and we had an Asian food night! 

The plum sauce was not how I remembered it (from real life, not the dream) =) , so I am still on a hunt for a different kind.....but everything else was so good we didn't even miss the plum sauce!! =) 

We topped it off with some Japanese ice cream treats! The Pino's were sooo good!! They had a coconut taste to them! The meal was a hit, and we are excited to try more from the Market & do round two with a different plum sauce! =) 

Well I'm off to bed....maybe I will get some more inspiration tonight! ; ) 

Mexican Lasagna

We just tried this recipe tonight for Mexican Lasagna, by Rachel Ray (she usually has some great recipes). It was so good, and so simple (I had to share it), and you can tweak it any way you would like. We used flour tortillas and not spinach (the reviews said flour was better, and it was great), and we used ground beef, and used some more add ons to spice it up some more! Enjoy!! =)

PS- I had to add this song ('I've got the world on a string', Frank S) because Brody has been singing it a couple times a week for awhile now. He was doing it again tonight while helping with dinner, I couldn't help but to add it....just a little taste of what goes through his head! =)

Bottom of the 9th, baskets loaded...

We had a really fun Easter weekend! Saturday we went to the Angels game, and we thought it would be nice to bring something to contribute to the memorial for Adenhart---I bought several tulip plants the night before--I couldn't resist they are great for Easter & I yellow is my favorite color---so we took one of those up and added it with the others before the game. We were thinking how nice it is for the family to see how much people care.

It was a great game! We were ahead for most of it & then the Sox really started gaining on us....and it was time for the Rally Monkey to come out!! =)

It was bottom of the 9th bases loaded, Angels only down by 1---and everyone was on their feet for what felt like ten mins.....and then they lost it and the Sox won! But still it was an exciting game & we had a blast!! =)

It was such a beautiful day for an afternoon ball game!

I see the big leagues in my future!!

Easter Sunday we went over to my parents house for a really yummy Easter dinner (Thanks again Mom!) & loaded Easter baskets! Don't you just love Easter!? =)

(We also gave my parents a lovely tulip plant. They are just so pretty) =)

I had boiled some eggs on....I think Friday night and we were planning on decorating them, and then got busy! So we took it all over to my parents and had some fun with eggs! =)

We had fun experimenting with the colors and wax crayon! =)

We are so grateful for the gospel, our Savior and this beautiful time we have to reflect more on his life and love for us! We hope you too had a wonderful Easter!! =)
