We stayed in down town SD by Gaslamp and parked our car on Thursday morning at the hotel and didn't get back into it until Sat morning on our way to Sea World! It was so nice to be able to walk to everything we wanted to do. I ended up taking close to 700 photos over this trip, and I just happen to love them all, so it was hard to pick just some of them.....but here are some of my favorites for right now! =)
Thursday morning we headed down to Old Town, to explore the streets and check out the Mormon Battalion Museum and get some get a Mexican food for lunch!
We ended up eating at Acapulco. We love this place and this one had a really cute patio with an amazing view of Old Town and San Diego!!

Remember before when I mentioned we were looking forward to going to the Mormon Battalion museum??? ...Well, this is it! =) It was under construction, and is said to re-open sometime this year. So now we can look forward to that for next time....
After we walked all around Old Town, we were looking forward to checking into our hotel and relaxing by the pool!
This hotel was so amazing, we couldn't believe it!! It was a destination in it's self which was JUST what we were looking for! (If you can find a good deal on this Hotel, I would NOT pass it up!! It is in a great location)
We were loving life up on the 4th floor pool deck! It was sunny, warm, music was being piped in & we had super comfy lounge chairs...and something we didn't expect....waitress service!! The chairs had menus, with drinks, sandwiches, snacks and more---and was all brought out to you with out having to leave the comfort of your sunny chair! What more could you want?!=)

That night we stepped out on to the streets and headed over to the Gaslamp Quarter to look around. It was really cute---with a lot of places to eat and unique little shops. Parts of it felt like it we were in a different country! It was fun to have something so different and fun so close.
When we got back to the hotel we went up to enjoy the fire pits & the view of the bay---and while we were there people were gathering around to watch a firework show that a big convention was putting on.

Our room was even better then we were expecting!! It had an entry way, a huge bathroom and a little sitting area by the floor to ceiling windows!! I had so much fun eating breakfast and looking at all that was going on out the window! =)
From our room we could see the USS Midway (at night it was lit up so pretty!). We were in close walking distance to it, and curiosity got the best of us---so we headed down and explored the ship! We have been on Mighty Mo (USS Missouri) in Hawaii and loved it, so we were excited to see what the Midway had to offer! It is so so big, you could almost spend all day on it.

We happened to be there when several people in the Navy were retiring. The speeches that were given, and the music that was played gave our time on the Midway an extra patriotic feel---we were loving it!! It made it so special!

It was so fun to explore all the little areas of the ship, and with out the numbers and arrows, I am sure we would still be on there, trying to get out! =)

We just loved the Midway, there are so many amazing things about it, and it has done so much for our country! If you want to find out more about it (and I suggest you do) click on the BIG 'USS Midway' above the first photo of it.
As far as our time on the Midway?? On the fun meter, we gave it more than Max!
After the ship, we headed just down the water to the Seaport Village! It is such a lovely little village right on the bay (and just behind our hotel)! With much of the same--shops and little places to eat, in a sea side cottage feel.
We ended up eating at this pizza place looking out onto the bay, and we could still see the Midway to our left! We sat at the bar looking out on the water, watching boats go by! This Pizza was SO good!!

There where so many of these Bicycle taxis' and we thought it would be fun to take one at one point of our trip. We ended up taking one over to PETCO Park for our tour and game! It was so much fun!! And our driver was so nice---he was from somewhere in Europe, and was talking to us so much about his 'home land' that he almost missed the light and (later) crashed into a fence, it was really funny--and we really enjoyed our ride on the bicycle taxi! =)

Right before the game we grabbed some BBQ sandwiches at Randy Jones BBQ! They were SO good!! (you can buy the sauce on the website and make your own) =)

These fireworks were AMAZING!! The best I have seen at a game. There was a point that we thought was the end, and then it started up again and went out with the loudest and biggest bang I have ever seen!!! (This photo is from the start of the show)
We love baseball, and even if they did loose, we had a GREAT time!! The Colorado Rockies were staying at our hotel and when we walked up to the hotel after the game, their bus was pulling up and I held the door for a couple of them! =) And we ran into others the day after too! It was really fun!
We love Sea World! It has all that we love--aquariums, fun shows and more. We could sit and watch these beautiful animals swim around and do tricks all day, there is a lot of entertainment there. =) Since we have passes and knew it would be pretty hot and busy, we thought we would make the most of our trip and time at Sea World by signing up for some tours. First was the Penguin Experience. I was SOOOOO excited for this one! We got to go backstage and meet a Macaroni Penguin up close and personal!
He was SO soft (someone said he felt like silk)---and very curious, he was moving all over so I had to sort of hold him in place. I loved him, and wanted to take him home! =)
It is winter for them, so they had the lights out and only the light coming in the windows--and we could not use the flash---so it was hard to get a clear photo.
After meeting one down stairs, we got to go upstairs and go into the room with them!!
It was a chill 25* f ---We got a penguin's view of the exhibit!! =) It was SOOOO much fun!! We had little penguins right at our feet!
Just like we thought it was HOT and Crowed! But since we have had Disneyland passes for 6+ years, we are no stranger to the summer crowds---so it didn't bother us, you just have to know some tricks----like finding a nice cold, dark place to kick your feet up and re-charge your batteries for a bit!
We found that the Manatee room was perfect for this! They had a nice big back area with benches, it was nice and dark, and they even announced that they don't mind people hanging out in the back to beat the heat! It was perfect, with a fun view! =)

The other thing we signed up for was the 'Shamu Rocks Back Stage Dinner'! Everything was so crowed all day that we just ended up snacking until dinner, so we were VERY ready for this dinner and SO glad we did it! And it did not disappoint!! It had a big dinner buffet and a sweets buffet, it was amazing!
We got to sit right on the water with the whales swimming and doing tricks right by us!

...and then they lead us to a reserved seating area for our group!! We had great seats, and enjoyed a really fun show!! We highly recommend both of the tours we did, it was amazing!
And they capped off the night with a firework show! =)
It was a perfect trip, and we loved our time in San Diego so much, we would love to try to make it an annual trip, for as long as we still love it! There is more we want to do there, and more we would love to do again! There was SO much I loved about this trip, and if I went over it all here, this post would be much longer! =) If you want a relaxing trip with plenty of fun little things to do, we highly recommend Down Town San Diego by the bay!! =)

One of these days I'm going to stop reading your blog, it makes me miss home! (And I NEVER miss home).
Growing up my older sister and brother and younger brother used to ride the train down to San Diego at least twice a year. My Nana and her husband would pick us up at the downtown station, right by Sea Port Village. We make the quick drive over and we ALWAYS at at the Greek place. I can't remember what it's called, but the food is AMAZING. Of course now I'm craving it! That picture you took of that enchanting little pond.... it seems like every spring that we went we were lucky enough to see baby ducklings. I hope to one day be able to take my babies there to share with them all the memories I have of it.
Looks like you two had a blast, you two are so cute, I always enjoy reading about all the fun things you do.
And BTW... I'm kidding about quitting your blog, I love it.
Honey--you guys should write a book about how to make the most of a trip to San Diego! It looks like you were there for a week! Thanks for sharing the great pictures and memories-- Love you...
Wow! I picked a good time to check up on your blog again. Looks like you guys had a total blast on your 5 star trip! I love all the pic's!! The Midway pic's are so fun! I agree with the first comment, you two really are too cute! :0)
